The pool uses an advanced UV water filter system and there is permanent seating for 350 spectators. The Table Tennis competition will also be held at the Idrottscenter
Due to the opening of two new swimming centres on the island swimming has become the largest developing sport on Åland. There is a large junior section and Åland swimmers have been successful in national competitions at both junior and senior levels.
Åland has become a popular venue for training camps and large competitions such as the Finnish Junior Championships, which were held on the island in 2006.
